The low cost of computers is making it easier to build your own home network. To ensure that your network installation goes as smoothly as possible, we have provided these three steps for you to follow:

Step 1: Get Your Equipment:

Setting up your network requires some additional hardware including:

  • An additional computer
  • A network adapter such as a network card or USB adapter for each additional computer. (These can be purchased from virtually any computer store)
  • A 10-BaseT network hub (These can be purchased from virtually any computer store)

Step 2: Get an IP Address:

Each computer will need an IP address to connect to the Shaw @Home service. With our service, you can order up to 4 additional computer addresses to simultaneously connect all your networked computers to the Internet. Contact us to find out how you can order additional IP addresses.
